Let me tell you a story...

“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” -Saint Francis of Assisi

It does seem that it is always the getting started that is the most difficult. It doesn’t matter what exactly I am trying to start or get into, it is getting enough thrust to get off the ground that is the essential equation for my success.

Marc’s mom is a big fan of Saint Francis. Apparently he was talking aboutthe concept of Baby Steps long before Dr. Leo Marvin* published his book. Momentum is something that can keep us going for a long time with minimal effort but that first thrust has to come from us. I think of it as proof to ourselves that we really want what we want. Maybe it is the proof of the commitment we make to ourselves in that to begin engages us in a process that takes us on a journey. We have expectations. We have fears of failure or falling short. By just doing what is necessary first, we can begin. Then see. Saint Francis takes a lot of pressure off with his approach. He keeps it simple and tells us to think about the process more than the result.

Life is full of of people with stories of impossible journey’s. Let the next one you hear, be the sound of your own voice saying, “I started...”

Namaste!
